London Ramblers U19's Finish 4th in D1 at OBA

Congrats to the London Ramblers U19s coached by former Mustangs Matt Tweedie and Al Paron who finished 4th in Division 1 at the OBA Championships this past weekend in Waterloo. The Ramblers also include incoming Mustangs players Adam Vandervoort and George Johnson.

Barbeau To Receive The Robinson-Kelleher Memorial Award

Belleville crowns athlete of 2012

2011 was a big year for Belleville’s Ryan Barbeau and he will collect the rewards this week.

The Nicholson Catholic College graduate will receive the Robinson-Kelleher Memorial Award as Belleville’s athelte of the year.

Despite playing with stress fractures in both shins, Barbeau led the Western Mustangs, and the entire Canadian University basketball program in points with 483.

Ryan Barbeau recently completed his 5 years at Western where he majored in philosophy.

He was the Mustangs MVP and honoured for his community involvement, academics and leadership. And Barbeau is now ready to turn pro.

Ryan Barbeau will receive the Robinson Kelleher Memorial award Wednesday night as part of Belleville’s honours and awards ceremony at the Yardmen arena at 6:30. This is open to the public.

New Mustang Meets Mayor and Receives Town Medal

Congratulations to new Mustang Jacob Hutchcroft and his "AAA" OFSAA Champion Whitby Anderson HS teammates as they were presented Whitby Town Medals for their acheivement by Mayor Pat Perkins.

Hutchcroft has also had a very successful club basketball season thus far with his team the Whitby Wildcats. 1990-91 Mustangs Team is Honoured

1990-91 Western Mustangs CIAU National Champions

Congratulations to the 1990-91 Mustangs Basketball Team who will be inducted into the London Sports Council Hall of Fame. The announcement was made yesterday at the John Labatt Centre. The official induction will take place Thursday November 8 at the Western Fair District Carousel Room.

Congartualtions also goes out to Don Getty who was selected for Football but also played basketball for the Mustangs in the early 1950's.

Western Basketball Camps


Camp info:

COLTS BASKETBALL
This Colts Basketball camp is for boys and girls of all skill levels between the ages of 7-10 & 11-13. Brad Campbell, Western Men's Basketball head coach, and Brian Cheng, Western Women's Basketball head coach, will be running this program with the assistance of other varsity coaches and athletes from both programs. Campers will learn a variety of fundamental skills such as shooting, ball handling, passing, and defensive play. Campers will take part in daily; skill development station work, 3 on 3 games, full court games, shooting games, and basketball related development. Each camper will receive their own limited edition Western basketball and camp T-shirt.
What to bring: t-shirt, shorts, running shoes, swimsuit, towel, water/snacks, and lunch (if staying for full-day).
Swim Days: ♦ Afternoon camp (1 - 4 p.m.) will swim Tue, Thu. ♦ Full-Day camp (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) will swim Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.

The Mustang Varsity Basketball camp is for boys and girls who are in or are entering high school. Brad Campbell, Western Men's Basketball head coach, and Brian Cheng, Western Women's Basketball head coach, will be running this program with the assistance of other varsity coaches and athletes from both programs. Instruction will focus on individual skill development such as shooting, ball handling, and passing. Basketball specific strength and fitness strategies will also be incorporated. This camp is a great opportunity to receive the instruction required to prepare for your high school season! Each camper will receive their own limited edition Western basketball and camp T-shirt.
What to bring: t-shirt, shorts, running shoes, swimsuit, towel, water/snacks, and lunch (if staying for full-day).
