LONDON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs (6-4, T-3rd OUA West) take on a heated rival in their next challenge of the regular season, as the team will travel to take on the Guelph Gryphons (3-7, 8th place OUA West) on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 8 p.m at the W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre.

The Mustangs are 5-1 in their last six games played, and are fresh off a victory over the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Meanwhile, the Gryphons have dropped two straight.
Despite recent struggles, the game will be no walk in the park for the Mustangs, according to Mustangs head coach Brad Campbell.
“Guelph always plays physical and defends well. You have to be ready for a physical battle every time you play Guelph,” said Campbell.
As each team nears the mid-point of the regular season, there begins to be some parity in the league standings. Though Guelph does sit in the basement of the OUA West division, it does not mean that the Mustangs are going to take the game lightly.
“Guelph may be at the bottom of the standings right now, but they are a very capable team and are still in the playoff hunt,” said Campbell. “Guelph is a traditional rival of ours and therefore no motivation is ever needed when Western plays Guelph.”
Campbell said that the biggest thing his team will need to focus on will be keeping Guelph's top scoring threats contained.
“Keeping Guelph’s shooters Jay Mott (Burlington, Ont.) and Jonathan Moscetelli (Toronto) in check by limiting their looks (will be the key to winning).”
Western will be back at home on Saturday, Jan. 16 when they take on the Brock Badgers at 3 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
