Mustangs 55 McMaster 69

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs fell to the McMaster Marauders 69-55 on Wednesday, Feb. 9 in Hamilton, Ont. falling behind in a third quarter that featured a power outage at Burridge Gym.



Andy Wedmire led the Mustangs offence with 19 points and nine rebounds. Marcus Barnett added 16 points on 4-for-8 shooting from behind the arc. 

The Mustangs slip to 9-10 on the year as McMaster improves up to 9-10 on the season. 

Western started slow, getting outscored 15-9 in the first quarter. They clawed their way back into the game behind Wedemire's post play and Barnett's hot shooting hand to cut McMaster's lead to 33-30 at half.

The third quarter featured a power outage in Burridge Gym halfway through the quarter and McMaster showed no ill effects outscoring the Mustangs 25-13 to take a 58-43 lead into the final frame. Neither team could muster much offence as Western scored just 11 points in the fourth to fall 69-55. 

The Mustangs will look to get back to .500 as they host the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, Feb. 12 in the annual Jam the Gym promotion. Tip off at Alumni Hall will be at 3 p.m. following the women's game at 1 p.m.
