Mustangs dominate in 85-61 victory

By Mustangs Athletics

The University of Western Ontario Mustangs scored the first points of the game at the 9:11 mark off of a Charlie Drouin layup and never gave it back on way to a dominating 85-61 victory over the visiting Brock University Badgers.
The Mustangs used hot shooting – nearly 50-percent for the game – to race out to a 17-point lead at halftime. However, Brock University slowly chipped away at the spread early in the second half and got to within four points midway through off of a layup-and-one opportunity from Didi Mukendi.
With only seconds expired in the final quarter, a 3-pointer from Tshing Kasamba would knot the game at 57 but Nathan DiLoreto's foul shot moments later would give the Mustangs the lead again and they would not look back. Ryan Barbeau's jumper at the 6:26 mark would spread the Mustang lead into double-digits.
The Mustangs were led by Barbeau and Peter Scholtes, who both provided 21 points. Scholtes has recorded seven rebounds and three steals. Greg Morrow added 12 points to the tally and pulled down nine boards.
The Mustangs will be in action again on February 8th when they tipoff at 8:00pm against McMaster.
