The Mustangs will play their biggest game of the season Wednesday as they continue their fight for a playoff spot. The Western men come into the game tied for the sixth and final playoff position in the OUA West with the Guelph Gryphons. Wins are crucial for the Mustangs at this point, but they won't come easy. McMaster heads into Wednesday's game with a 15-5 record and looking to move up a spot to second in the West. The Marauders are red hot, having won each of their last six contests, most recently an 87-79 decision over Guelph on Saturday (Feb.11). Last Wednesday (Feb. 8), McMaster handed Western a 77-63 loss in Hamilton. On Saturday (Feb. 11), the Mustangs bounced back to earn a come-from-behind 105-102 win in overtime over the Waterloo Warriors on the road.

Ryan Barbeau had a career day Saturday, scoring 46 points in the Western win. He enters Wednesday's game as the OUA's leading scorer at 23.9 ppg. Victor Raso is McMaster's leading scorer this year, averaging 13.8 ppg (while adding 5.7 rpg). He missed the Marauders' last game, however, and his status is uncertain for Wednesday's game. McMaster is shooting 41.7% overall on the year, while Western is at 43.5%. The Marauders hold a narrow edge from three-point range -- 34.5% to the Mustangs' 33.7%. Wednesday's game should feature a lot of three balls, as both teams throw up plenty of shots from beyond the arc (Western is 3rd and McMaster is 4th in the CIS in 3-pt. attempts per game). One key area for the Mustangs will be preventing the Marauders from grabbing rebounds on the offensive glass. They currently rank 6th in the CIS in that category, hauling in 14.2 offensive rebounds per game.
