Mustangs Season Ends With Loss To Windsor

WINDSOR, Ont. – With a 79-64 win Saturday, the Windsor Lancers dashed the playoff hopes of the Western Mustangs men’s basketball team, who were eliminated from postseason contention with the loss.

The Lancers built up an 11-point lead at halftime and never looked back en route to the win, which improved their record to 15-7 on the season – good for fourth place in the OUA West.

Lien Phillip led the Windsor men with a double-double – 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Enrico Di Loreto had 16 points and four rebounds, while Rotimi Osuntola Jr. had 13 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Peter Scholtes led the Mustangs with 20 points on 9-of-19 shooting, while Ryan Barbeau had 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Quinn Henderson also finished in double figures, scoring 10 points to go along with six rebounds.

The Lancers shot 45.6% overall on Saturday compared to a 43.3% mark by the Mustangs, who struggled once again from three-point range (6-for-22). Windsor outrebounded Western 41-33 on the day, and the Lancer capitalized on 12 steals (and 22 total Mustang turnovers).
