On September 25th the University and the community lost a beloved coach, professor and friend, Doug Hayes, who began his career at Western in 1969.
A special tribute celebrating his many contributions and achievements as a Mustangs coach, teacher, mentor and administrator will be held during a basketball conference doubleheader against Ottawa on the evening of November 20.
The women's game will start at 5:00 pm after which there will be a tribute celebrating Doug's many accomplishments including a video presentation of his career. The men's game will follow along with some special events at half-time.
In addition to celebrating Doug through this event we will also be attempting to honour him permanently by fundraising for the Doug and Lauretta Hayes Mustangs Men's Basketball Award. Doug felt strongly about this award as it recognizes excellence in the classroom and on the court.
