LONDON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs men's basketball team played tough defence with a lot of small line-ups - missing forwards Garrett Olexiuk. Andy Wedemire and Adam Jespersen - but still pulled away with a 30-point win.
Western won 85-55 at Alumni Hall led by rookie forward Peter Scholtes, a graduate of London's Oakridge Secondary School, who scored a game-high 21 points and added seven rebounds.
Ryan Barbeau (15 points, 6 assists), Dillon Hamilton (10 points) and Brett Lawrence (17 points) were also top contributors for Western.
"Our defensive intensity and effort was outstanding," said Mustangs head coach Brad Campbell. "Many of our guys like Brett, Nathan and Quinn did a great job playing out of position today due to our injuries."
