Mustangs fall to Waterloo despite Barnett's hot shooting

WATERLOO, Ont. - The Western Mustangs could not overcome a slow start and lost 93-72 to the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday afternoon.
Marcus Barnett was 5-of-6 from three-point range for 18 points and seven rebounds. Peter Scholtes had 13 points for the Mustangs.
Western could not get in the offensive flow to start the game and found themselves behind 23-7 after the first quarter. They faced a 44-29 deficit at halftime. 
Waterloo came out strong in the third quarter to put the game away, outscoring the Mustangs 30-18 to hold a 74- 47 lead heading into the final frame. Western cut into the lead in the fourth but ultimately fell 93-72.
The Mustangs will look to rebound from this loss as they head home to host the Brock Badgers on Wed. Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall.
