Barbeau's 24 not enough as Wolves roll to 91-73 win

THUNDER BAY, Ont. -- The Western Mustangs' 2012 portion of the schedule began against a tough opponent Friday night, as the Lakehead Thunderwolves built a 23-point halftime lead and rolled to a 91-73 win over the visiting Mustangs.

The Western men closed to the gap to as few as 11 points in the second half, but were unable to get any closer as the hometown Wolves outscored their opponent 18-16 in the final quarter to secure the victory.

Ryan Barbeau led all scorers with 24 points on an impressive 10-of-13 from the floor, including a pair of three-pointers. Peter Scholtes went 6-for-13 for 19 points, while Quinn Henderson had 11 points and a team-high five rebounds.

Ryan Thomson led the Lakehead men, making six three-pointers en route to his team-high 23 points. Yoosrie Salhia had 18 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals, while Venzal Russell tallied 12 points, two steals and a game-high seven assists.
